Arts Council Collection x University of Sunderland, School of Art and Design Takeovers 


Sunderland Culture, Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens and University of Sunderland, School of Art and Design have joined forces to deliver a series of takeovers responding to the themes and works within the Arts Council Collection exhibitions and projects taking place across the next two years in Sunderland Culture venues for the National Partners Programme (NPP).

The takeovers provided the students with the opportunity to present new and existing work to a range of audiences. Sunderland Culture supported the student groups throughout the process from inception through to delivery focusing on professional development, network building locally and nationally, evaluation and generating further opportunities locally.


Received Wisdom Digital Takeover
Arts Council Collection and University of Sunderland, School of Art and Design Instagram
Monday 13 - Sunday 19 April 2020

University of Sunderland, School of Art and Design students took over Arts Council Collection’s instagram account for a week to present artwork they produced in response to artworks within the Arts Council Collection exhibition ‘Received Wisdom’. 

           

Received Wisdom Takeover 
Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens
Thursday 1 - Saturday 3 October 2020

The first in venue takeover responded to the exhibition ‘Received Wisdom’. Twelve students produced work which reflected on the artworks on display.

Featuring work by Rachel Jefferson, Jo Liddle, Lyn Killeen, Kevin Rudkin, Lisa Marie Thompson, Lorraine Lawler, Susan Bulley, Jane Young, Jess Watson, Cheyenne Moulin, Kelly Dunlop, Brett Dickson, James Hutchinson & Graham Mitchinson.









Paint the Town in Sound Virtual Exhibition Takeover

Monday 26 April - Sunday 23 May 2021

This second takeover responds to the exhibition ‘Paint the Town in Sound’. Fifteen students have produced artwork which reflects on the artworks on display in the virtual exhibition.

Featuring work by Alexandra Gould, Caitlin Isabella Savage, Jasmine Davy, Karine Jay, Katie Stewart, Lucy Archer, Natasha Kerr Armstrong, Rayanne Noble, Simon Green, Stuart Teears, Lyn Killeen, Lorraine Lawler, Jane Young, James Hutchinson & Graham Mitchinson and Linda Howe Candler.










Where We Are Now Takeover
Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens 
Tuesday 21 September - Monday 11 October 2021

This third takeover responds to the exhibition ‘Where We Are Now’ in the Special Exhibitions Gallery. Eleven students have produced work which reflects on the artworks on display.
